effortless inevitability
ineffable inevitability

ephemeral inevitability
is what the rivers are
the lakes are
flowing through all of us
the air like the water
the water like the air as i waded in
was i wading in the sky or in the lake
was i wading in the entire earth?
i waded everywhere and no where
i walked on my feet, but the world was tilted,
floated home, even the car floated...


Observations from 1999:

I had forgotten something that always used to mesmerize me when I was a little girl swimming in the pool: the lacy pattern of sunlight on the bottom. . . .

the water always contains the fire of the sun, no matter the season; the molecules absorb the light/qi and it's always there to give life and fire to anything and everything. it's coldness is a way of containing this qi/light so the water can transmit it.

When I stood at the edge of the lake both times, I simply had the sensation of everything being connected. Perceiving distance wasn't like perceiving something distant...
